CNET Cabling Systems

CNET Data Cabinets & Comms Cabinets: Manufacturer Authority

CNET Cabling Systems manufactures a complete range of data cabinets, comms cabinets, and network enclosures designed for structured cabling installations compliant with ISO/IEC 11801. From 6U wall-box units to 42U floor-standing racks, every CNET cabinet is engineered to the same quality standard, and every CNET installation is eligible for our coveted 25-year system warranty when carried out by a registered certified installer.

Unlike e-commerce cabinet sellers, CNET does not compete on price. We compete on specification, compliance, and the long-term protection that only a manufacturer warranty can provide.

Why Specification Matters More Than Price

Data cabinets are long-term infrastructure assets. The cabinet you install today will house your structured cabling system for 15 to 25 years. Choosing on price alone creates hidden risks:

  • Non-compliant enclosures that do not meet IEC 60297 or EIA-310-D 19" rack standards can invalidate your structured cabling warranty
  • Underspecified ventilation leads to thermal throttling of active equipment, a common cause of network failures in small server rooms
  • Load ratings that are inadequate for the installed equipment: wall-mounted cabinets especially require proper static and dynamic load compliance
  • Lack of cable management: unmanaged cable routing degrades patch panel performance and makes moves, adds, and changes (MACs) costly

CNET data cabinets are designed as components within a complete structured cabling system, not as standalone boxes. All our cabinets and cabling comply with ISO/IEC 11801, the international structured cabling standard that Ireland participates in directly through NSAI's ICT Standards Committee (TC 02), the national mirror body to ISO/IEC JTC 1. That system-level design is what enables the 25-year warranty.

Data Cabinet Selection Guide

How Many U (Rack Units) Do I Need?

A rack unit (U) is 44.45 mm (1.75 inches) in height. To size a cabinet correctly, list all equipment to be installed and add the U-height of each component, plus 20 to 30 percent headroom for growth and cable management.

Cabinet SizeHeight (approx)Typical Use
6U370 mmSmall office or residential: 1 to 2 patch panels, basic switch
9U500 mmSME comms room: patch panel, PoE switch, small UPS
12U625 mmMedium office: 48-port patch panel, 2 switches, fibre panel
22U1,100 mmServer room starter: 1 to 2 servers, switching, UPS, KVM
42U2,055 mmFull server room / data hall: high-density patch, servers, storage

Wall-Mounted vs Floor-Standing: The Key Decision

Wall-mounted cabinets (wall-box units) are suitable when space is limited, the cabinet holds passive and low-power active equipment, and the installation does not require front and rear equipment access simultaneously.

Floor-standing cabinets are required when equipment weight exceeds the wall fixing load rating, cooling requirements demand a hot-aisle/cold-aisle layout, or the installation needs dual-sided access for maintenance.

Depth: 300 mm, 450 mm, 600 mm, or 800 mm?

Cabinet depth determines what active equipment can be installed. Passive-only installations (patch panels, faceplates, cable management) typically fit in 300 mm or 450 mm deep wall units. Servers and switches with rear power connectors require 600 mm minimum depth; deep blade servers or storage arrays often require 800 mm or 1,000 mm deep floor-standing cabinets.

CNET Cabinet Features

  • 19" EIA/IEC standard rack rail spacing: universal compatibility with all vendor equipment
  • Removable and adjustable mounting rails (front and rear on floor-standing models)
  • Ventilated top and side panels: passive airflow for low-power installations
  • Optional active cooling fan units for higher-power active equipment
  • Integrated cable management: side cable rings, horizontal cable managers, brush strips for cable entry
  • Secure locking: key-lockable front and rear doors on enclosed models
  • RAL 9005 (gloss black) finish as standard; alternative colours on request
  • Flat-pack delivery with full installation hardware included

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many U (rack units) do I need for my data cabinet?
List all equipment you plan to install and add the U-height of each item, then add 20 to 30 percent headroom for growth and cable management. A rack unit (U) is 44.45 mm. Small offices typically need 6U to 12U, while server rooms usually require 22U or more.
  • Should I choose a wall-mounted or floor-standing cabinet?
Wall-mounted cabinets suit limited space and passive or low-power active equipment. Floor-standing cabinets are required when equipment weight exceeds wall fixing load ratings, when hot-aisle/cold-aisle cooling is needed, or when dual-sided maintenance access is required.
  • What does the CNET 25-year system warranty cover?
The warranty covers CNET cabinets, cable, patch panels, faceplates, and modules used in the installation, plus ISO/IEC 11801 compliance for the complete channel. It requires installation by a registered certified installer and technical validation of the test data by the CNET technical team. A warranty certificate is issued per installation and is transferable with the building.
  • What cabinet depth do I need?
Passive-only installations typically fit in 300 mm or 450 mm deep wall units. Servers and switches with rear power connectors need 600 mm minimum depth, while deep blade servers or storage arrays often require 800 mm or 1,000 mm deep floor-standing cabinets.
  • Are CNET data cabinets compliant with industry standards?
Yes. CNET cabinets use 19" EIA/IEC standard rack rail spacing and are designed to comply with ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 60297, and EIA-310-D 19" rack standards, ensuring compatibility with all vendor equipment. Ireland's participation in ISO/IEC 11801 is coordinated nationally through NSAI's ICT Standards Committee.
  • Where can I buy CNET data cabinets in Ireland?
